Xiaomi is bringing back the T series to India after a gap of over 4 years. The Chinese phonemaker is set to launch the 17T and 17T Pro globally today. While it is unclear if the Xiaomi 17T Pro will make it to our shores, the Xiaomi 17T is confirmed to launch in India on June 4, 2026.
The T series have usually provided the flagship Xiaomi experience at a relatively more affordable price. And the case may be no different with the Xiaomi 17T series, including Leica-branded cameras and a premium design. Here are all the details.
Where to watch Xiaomi 17T launch?
The Xiaomi 17T and 17T Pro will launch today at 5:30 pm. The launch will be streamed live. You can watch it on Xiaomi’s website and YouTube channel.
Xiaomi 17T and 17T Pro design and display
From teasers, we can see that the Xiaomi 17T series will likely follow the design cues of the vanilla Xiaomi 17 that was launched in India earlier this year. Both phones are expected to come with a large square-ish camera module that appears to have 4 circular cutouts, with prominent Leica branding. You can also expect aluminium frames on both phones.
Xiaomi has not shared the full display details of both phones yet. Leaks suggest the Xiaomi 17T may feature a 6.59-inch AMOLED display with 1.5K resolution and a 120Hz refresh rate. On the other hand, the 17T Pro may come with a larger 6.83-inch AMOLED panel.
Colour options shown so far include Violet for the 17T and at least a Deep Blue finish for the 17T Pro. Weight and dimensions, however, are still under wraps.
Xiaomi 17T and 17T Pro cameras
Cameras are a key focus of the Xiaomi 17T series. The company has confirmed that both phones will feature a Leica 5x telephoto camera with support for up to 120x AI Ultra Zoom. Looking at the Amazon microsite for the Xiaomi 17T, you can also see teasers mimicking a holographic teleconverter sensor. This may indicate that the 17T can give you the same quality zoom without such an extender kit that we have seen on other phones.
Leaks further suggest the 17T could include a Leica-branded triple rear camera system with two 50-megapixel sensors – main, and telephoto with a 12-megapixel ultrawide. You can expect a 32-megapixel selfie shooter. The Xiaomi 17T Pro may come with a similar setup.
Xiaomi 17T and 17T Pro performance and battery
Xiaomi has confirmed that the standard 17T will run on the MediaTek Dimensity 8500 Ultra, while the 17T Pro will use the MediaTek Dimensity 9500 – built on a 3nm process. Keep in mind that the previous Xiaomi 17 models used Qualcomm Snapdragon 8 Gen Elite Gen 5 chipset.
Though details regarding the RAM and storage types are unclear for now.
Ever since silicon-carbon batteries became widely used, we have seen a jump in battery capacity across smartphones. And the Xiaomi 17T series follows the trend. The company has confirmed that the 17T will pack a 6,500mAh cell with 67W wired fast charging support, while the Pro gets a 7,000mAh battery.
Xiaomi claims that the 17T Pro can deliver up to 9.5 hours of continuous video recording on a single charge.
Xiaomi 17T and 17T Pro expected price
While we don’t have any official word on the pricing for the Xiaomi 17T series, the 17T is expected to sit below the vanilla 17 which starts at Rs 89,999. Though some leaks suggest that the 17T may be priced around Rs 60,000 in India.
Though leaks for the European market suggest a price tag of €749 (roughly Rs 83,000) for the 17T and €999 (roughly Rs 1,10,000) for the 17T Pro.
