A man accused of opening fire in a crowded suburban Kansas City bar, killing an Indian origin engineer and injuring two others in an attack that some witnesses said was racially motivated, was charged with murder and attempted murder.
Authorities have declined to say whether the shooting was a hate crime although local police said they were working with the FBI to investigate the case.
Srinivas Kuchibhotla, who worked at the Garmin headquarters in Olathe area of Kansas, was killed in the incident. He hails from Hyderabad.
His colleague Alok Madasani has been critically injured and is battling for life at a local hospital.
