BYD India to increase prices by up to Rs 1 lakh from May 1
Amid rising cost pressures and global uncertainties, BYD India has announced a price hike, joining Hyundai Motor India and Tata Motors Passenger Vehicles Limited in revising prices upward.

BYD India has announced a price increase across its entire model range, effective May 1, 2026. The revision will see prices go up by 2 to 3 percent, translating to a hike of approximately Rs 50,000 to Rs 1 lakh depending on the model.
This marks a broader pricing adjustment beyond the brand’s earlier revision in January, when it increased prices of the BYD Sealion 7. The upcoming hike, however, will be applicable across the lineup.
The hike is attributed to the rising global uncertainties, particularly the ongoing instability around the Strait of Hormuz, a key maritime corridor that significantly impacts global supply chains and logistics costs.
Meanwhile, other companies such as Hyundai, also confirmed a price revision, announcing an increase of up to 1 percent across its range starting May, reflecting a wider trend of cost pressures being passed on to consumers.
Adding to the trend, Tata Motors Passenger Vehicles Limited has implemented a marginal price increase across its internal combustion engine (ICE) passenger vehicle portfolio from April 1, 2026. The company stated that the revision is aimed at partially offsetting the sustained rise in input costs.
With multiple automakers adjusting prices, buyers planning a purchase may look to finalise bookings before the revised pricing comes into effect.
