India’s largest carmaker Maruti Suzuki India Limited has officially commenced commercial production at the second manufacturing plant at its Kharkhoda facility in Haryana, further strengthening its production footprint in the country.

The newly operational plant has an annual production capacity of 2.5 lakh units, taking the total installed capacity at the Kharkhoda facility to 5 lakh vehicles per annum. With this expansion, Maruti Suzuki’s cumulative annual production capacity across its manufacturing facilities in Gurugram, Manesar and Kharkhoda in Haryana, along with Hansalpur in Gujarat, has now increased to 26.5 lakh units.

The Kharkhoda facility is a key part of Maruti Suzuki’s long-term growth strategy and, once fully operational, is expected to become one of Suzuki’s largest four-wheeler manufacturing hubs globally, with a planned annual production capacity of 10 lakh vehicles.

The company had earlier outlined plans to add 5 lakh units of production capacity during FY2026–27, and the commencement of the second plant aligns with that roadmap.

Currently, Maruti Suzuki manufactures the Maruti Suzuki Brezza and the Maruti Suzuki Victoris at the Kharkhoda facility.

The foundation stone for the Kharkhoda plant was laid by PM Narendra Modi in August 2022, marking the beginning of one of the company’s most significant manufacturing expansion projects in India.
