Adani crisis: Why is Sebi silent?

The country's biggest institutional investor, LIC, has witnessed an enormous notional loss of Rs 49,728 crore amid the ongoing sell-off in the Adani Group. The shares of Adani Group firms have fallen sharply ever since the US-based short seller Hindenburg Research last month made a litany of allegations, including fraudulent transactions and share-price manipulation, against it.

The group has dismissed the charges as lies, saying it complies with all laws and disclosure requirements.
