A 50-year-old man allegedly died of suicide in Bhopal on Sunday after attacking his live-in partner with a hammer. However, the woman actually survived the attack and is being treated for the severe injuries she sustained.

A domestic dispute among the live-in couple is prima facie suspected to be the reason behind the deadly episode. Laxman had doubts about the character of his partner, who has been estranged from her husband for a very long time, the police said.

They said that the suspicion led to frequent fights between the couple. The police suspect that the dispute led to the assault on the woman. Believing that she had died from the blunt blow, Laxman inflicted knife injuries on himself.

Upon receiving information about the incident, the police arrived at the couple's home and rushed them both to a hospital, where the doctors declared the man dead.

The woman, on the other hand, survived with a serious head injury, for which she is currently receiving treatment. She was initially admitted to a private hospital, from where she was referred to the government-run Hamidia hospital.
