India Today Conclave 2017: Abdul Basit and Gopalaswami Parthasarathy discuss India-Pakistan relation

Former High Commissioner Gopalaswami Parthasarathy during a session at India Today Conclave 2017 said that everyone knows who runs Pakistan and it is not the government but the military. "As long as the military establishment calls the shots in Pakistan, there will be trouble", he added.

"Nothing justifies terrorism. Osama, world's most wanted terrorist, was found living close to a military cantonment in a palatial house in Pakistan and they deny backing terror groups", said Parthasarathy at the India Today Conclave.

Abdul Basit and Gopalaswami Parthasarathy talk about the issue of terrorism, 26/11 trial, border security and India-Pakistan relation at the India Today Conclave 2017 in Mumbai.

Discussing the 26/11 trial at the India Today Conclave 2017, Abdul Basit said that India and Pakistan governments are in touch and it is a complex trial. "Hope things would move forward as far as 26/11 trial is concerned. For that to happen there has to be a conducive environment. We need to sit across the table and discuss things, we can't expect action in vacuum", he said.

"We also need to discuss Siachen, Jammu and Kashmir. We need to pug the trust deficit which exists at the moment. Dealing with terrorism requires cooperation between both the neighbouring nations", Abdul Basit said at India Today Conclave 2017.

Talking about the issue of terrorism, Abdul Basit said that there are no terror training camps in Pakistan and it a common challenge for both the countries.
