Covid-19 crisis in Uttar Pradesh: Ground report from Meerut

Overwhelmed due to an unprecedented rise in the number of Covid-19 patients, hospitals in Uttar Pradesh’s Meerut are now running out of medical oxygen and beds and are forced to turn people away. Reports of Covid-19 patients dying due to the shortage of oxygen and beds in the hospitals have become more frequent in the city.

The hospitals' refusal to admit patients due to the unavailability of beds has left people running from pillar to post either to get their ailing family members admitted to hospitals or to procure medical oxygen and medicines.
