India sees massive surge in Covid-19 cases, watch what experts have to say

As Omicron cases continue to rise in the country, India Today spoke to Maharashtra Covid Task Force member Dr Shashank Joshi, who described the Omicron surge as a "tsunami" rather than a wave. Earlier, Dr Christopher Murray, Director of the Institute for Health Metrics and Evaluation (IHME) had warned that Covid infections could peak in India in late January or early February. He said, "The number of Omicron infections in India could peak late in January or early in February".
