With many nations facing the Omicron variant threat of coronavirus, the SEC in a recent meeting questioned the justification of the administration of boosters submitted by the Serum Institute of India. It directed the SII to first submit trial data pertaining to Indian demographics.
While the Subject Expert Committee on Covid-19 has granted emergency use approval to Bharat Biotech's Covaxin for children in the 2-18 years age group. "We now await further regulatory approvals from the CDSCO prior to product launch and market availability of Covaxin for children," the vaccine developer had said in October.
