Decomposed body found in Chennai hospital weeks after Covid-19 patient went missing

A 41-year-old Covid-19 patient who went missing from the Rajiv Gandhi Government Hospital in Chennai was found dead in a decomposed state on the eighth floor of the building on Tuesday. She was admitted to the hospital on May 22 after she reported uneasiness in breathing. His husband said that when he came to the hospital on May 23, his wife was missing.
Speaking to India Today, Rajiv Gandhi Government Hospital dean Thenarirajan said, "The patient went missing on May 23 and her decomposed body was discovered on May 8. She was admitted to the 3rd floor of the hospital and was having severe breathing difficulty. Police were informed about the missing patient on May 23 and so was her husband. The only way to reach the 8th floor is by elevator."

BJP IT cell head Amit Malviya described the elderly party leader as "one of the earliest grassroots figures associated with the nationalist movement in post-Independence India."
