No need to apply again: CBSE to refund excess payments after incorrect fee deductions
Amid payment discrepancy concerns in the Class 12 post-result process, CBSE has clarified that students seeking scanned answer books will not lose their applications despite technical glitches. The board has also assured refunds for excess payments and confirmed that all existing requests will remain valid.
In a major relief for Class 12 students and anxious parents, the Central Board of Secondary Education (CBSE) has stepped in with a crucial clarification after technical glitches disrupted the post-result application process for obtaining scanned copies of evaluated answer books.
The issue, which surfaced during applications submitted on May 21 and 22, led to payment discrepancies, with some students being charged excess fees while others saw lower deductions, triggering confusion and concern among candidates awaiting their answer scripts.
Easing those worries, CBSE has assured that affected students will not have to submit fresh applications, and all eligible candidates will still receive their scanned answer sheets, ensuring that the review process remains unaffected despite the technical setback.
TECHNICAL ISSUES LED TO INCORRECT FEE DEDUCTIONS
According to the CBSE notice dated May 24, 2026, technical glitches during the online application process caused discrepancies in fee deductions. In some cases, students were charged more than the required amount, while others saw lower deductions than prescribed.
The board acknowledged that the issue affected applications submitted for obtaining scanned copies of evaluated answer books under the Class 12 post-result process.
CBSE ANNOUNCES REFUNDS FOR EXCESS PAYMENTS
CBSE has assured affected students that any excess amount deducted will be refunded automatically to the same payment method used during the transaction.
For candidates who were charged less than the required amount, the board stated that they would be informed separately regarding payment of any remaining balance, if necessary.
NO NEED TO REAPPLY FOR SCANNED ANSWER BOOKS
In a significant relief measure, CBSE clarified that scanned copies of evaluated answer books will be provided to all affected candidates without requiring them to submit fresh applications.
The decision ensures that students do not face additional procedural hurdles or delays due to technical errors.
