UPSC calendar 2027 out, Civil Services prelims to be held on May 23
The Union Public Service Commission has officially released the UPSC Exam Calendar 2027, bringing clarity for lakhs of aspirants preparing for Civil Services, NDA, CDS, Engineering Services and other major examinations. The UPSC Civil Services Preliminary Examination 2027 will be held on May 23 next year.
The Union Public Service Commission has released its much-awaited examination calendar for 2027, giving lakhs of aspirants across the country a clear roadmap for one of India’s most competitive examination cycles.
According to the official schedule, the UPSC Civil Services Examination (CSE) Preliminary Examination 2027 will be conducted on May 23, 2027. The exam remains the gateway for prestigious services including IAS, IPS, IFS and several central government administrative posts.
The Commission has announced that the notification for UPSC CSE 2027 will be released on January 13, 2027, while the last date to submit applications will be February 2, 2027.
The Civil Services (Main) Examination 2027 is scheduled to begin from August 20, 2027, and will continue for five days.
Notably, the Indian Forest Service (Preliminary) Examination 2027 will also be conducted through the same Civil Services Preliminary Examination.

ENGINEERING, GEO-SCIENTIST AND CBI EXAMS TOO
Apart from Civil Services and defence examinations, UPSC has also announced dates for several technical and departmental recruitment exams.
The Combined Geo-Scientist (Preliminary) Examination 2027 notification will be issued on September 2, 2026, while applications will close on September 22, 2026.
The preliminary exam is scheduled for January 10, 2027, and the mains examination will begin on June 19, 2027.
Meanwhile, the Engineering Services (Preliminary) Examination 2027 notification will be released on September 16, 2026. Applications will close on October 6, 2026, and the preliminary exam will be held on January 31, 2027.
The Engineering Services Main Examination is scheduled for June 18, 2027.
The Commission has also announced dates for limited departmental competitive examinations.
