PM Modi congratulates DK Shivakumar on taking oath as Karnataka chief minister
Prime Minister Narendra Modi on Wednesday congratulated DK Shivakumar on taking oath as the chief minister of Karnataka.
Amid fears of BJP trying to lure loyalists ahead of results o assembly polls, as many as 22 Assam Congress candidates were flown to Jaipur, Rajasthan, on Friday and sequestered in a hotel for ‘safekeeping’, sources said. These candidates from the Congress grand alliance, Mahajot, are from All India United Democratic Front (AIUDF) party. Assembly polls in Assam were held on March 27 and April 6. And the results are going to be announced on May 2.

Karnataka witnessed a significant leadership transition as DK Shivakumar was sworn in as Chief Minister at Lok Bhavan in Bengaluru. Alongside him, G. Parameshwara took the oath as Deputy Chief Minister, while twelve other legislators were inducted into the state cabinet.
The government is seeking to reclaim land near the Prime Minister's residence from the Delhi Gymkhana, Delhi Race Club, Jaipur Polo Ground and nearby slum clusters.
In a major political twist, rebel TMC MLAs backed Ritabrata Banerjee, who has been expelled for anti-party activities, as the leader of the legislature party and conveyed their decision to the West Bengal Assembly Speaker.
