In an exclusive interview with India Today during his election campaign in Alappuzha, Kerala, Union Home Minister Amit Shah launched a scathing attack on Congress President Mallikarjun Kharge for his remarks allegedly claiming Gujaratis are 'illiterate'.
Shah said that such comments reflect the 'sick mindset' of the Congress and represent an insult to icons like Mahatma Gandhi, Sardar Patel, and Vikram Sarabhai, as well as voters in 21 states.
Addressing the political landscape in Kerala, Shah dismissed the claims of the UDF and LDF, calling the BJP a 'B-team', asserting that the BJP is the 'A-team' while the opposition parties are the ones acting as B-teams. He highlighted the BJP's growing vote share in the state, which rose from 14% in 2014 to 20% in 2024, and cited the election of a BJP mayor in Thiruvananthapuram as evidence of the party's rising influence. Shah emphasised that the party's campaign is built on the pillars of faith, development, and security.
