As the election campaigning in Bengal reaches its final day, the political discourse has intensified with the Uttar Pradesh Chief Minister Yogi Adityanath launching an attack on the Bengal state government. During the high-decibel campaign, the visiting Chief Minister accused the state administration of imposing restrictions on Hindu festivals, specifically pointing to curbs on Durga Puja processions and idol immersions. The Uttar Pradesh Chief Minister alleged that while the state government facilitates street prayers and hosts religious feasts, it imposes curfews during Hindu celebrations. Furthermore, the state administration was criticised for allegedly remaining silent on serious issues, including daylight murders and incidents described as love jihad and land jihad.

US President Donald Trump and first lady Melania Trump were rushed to safety after gunshots were fired at a Washington hotel that was hosting the White House correspondents' dinner on Saturday night (local time). The security incident resulted from a man armed with a shotgun trying to breach the venue's security, officials said. Trump and the first lady had bent down behind the dais before being hustled out by US Secret Service officers. Other attendees also ducked for safety as the gunshots rang out.
