Gujarat, which went to polls in a single phase on May 7, is the home state of Prime Minister Narendra Modi and Union Home Minister Amit Shah. The state has been a bastion of the BJP and exit polls have again predicted a clean sweep by the saffron party.
In the 2019 as well as 2014 Lok Sabha polls, the Congress failed to win any of the 26 seats in Gujarat. This time the party contested the polls in alliance with the AAP.
The heavyweight candidates who contested the polls this time are Amit Shah from Gandhinagar, Union Minister Parshottam Rupala from Rajkot, AAP's Chaitar Vasava from Dediapada, Mansukh Mandaviya from Porbandar, and BJP state chief CR Patil from Navsari.
