Congress's 2nd list for Lok Sabha polls out, Kamal Nath, Gehlot's sons among 43 candidates

The Congress party today announced its second list of 43 candidates for the 2024 Lok Sabha elections. The list includes leaders from various states, including Assam, Madhya Pradesh, and Rajasthan. The party emphasised its commitment to social justice and the fight for the rights of the poor. The list reflects the party's vision for a balanced representation with a majority of the candidates belonging to SC, ST, OBC, and minority communities. The candidates were announced by the Central Election Committee of the Congress and include Gaurav Gogoi from Assam and sons of Kamal Nath and Ashok Gehlot.

Video: Vijay takes oath as Tamil Nadu CM amid loud cheers and chants

TVK leader C Joseph Vijay on Sunday took oath as the Chief Minister of Tamil Nadu amid a sea of supporters, his friends and family, and several political leaders. Eight other TVK leaders were sworn in besides him, as ministers in the new government. Congress leader Rahul Gandhi also attended the ceremony. The TVK managed to secure the Governor's nod to form the government after the Congress, the CPI, the CPI(M), the VCK, and IUML extended their support to the Vijay-led party for a colaition government.
