Samay Raina, Sunil Pal turn tension into viral comedy moment on Kapil Sharma show

A clip from The Great Indian Kapil Show has gone viral on social media after bringing comedians Sunil Pal and Samay Raina together on screen following their recent public dispute. The 30-second video, from the show’s World Laughter Day special, shows host Kapil Sharma turning the reported tension between the two into a comic segment.

In the clip, Kapil asks Sunil, “Sunil bhai, aapne abhi inko (Samay Raina) maaf kar diya ki nahi? Kyuki ye aapse bada pyaar karta hai genuinely. (Sunil bhai, have you forgiven him (Samay Raina) yet or not? Because he genuinely loves a lot about you).”Responding with folded hands, Sunil says, “Main toh request karta hoon. Main kisi ko kuch nahi kehta (I only request; I don’t say anything to anyone).”

Before the exchange moves ahead, Archana Puran Singh steps in and asks, “But I want to ask Sunil, aisa kya kiya Samay ne? (What did Samay do?” Sunil then takes a light-hearted dig at Samay’s comic style, saying, “Main ye kehta hoon ki adab ki mehfil ho, pyaar karo Ghalib ko, aur inki mehfil ho toh sirf gaali bake (I would say, when it’s a gathering of grace and culture, you admire Ghalib — but when it’s their gathering, it’s all about hurling abuses)."

Samay is quick to respond with a comeback, saying, “Jahan tak baat gaaliyon ki hai, maine jo bhi gaaliyan seekhi hain, woh maine Sunil paaji ke video se hi seekhi hain (As far as abuses are concerned, whatever I’ve learned, I learned from Sunil paaji’s videos).” Kapil then interjects, “Par inhone toh kabhi gaali nahi baki (But he has never used abusive language).” Samay adds, “Nahi, ye nahi inke video pe comments se seekhi main. (No, not that, I learned it from the comments on his videos).”

The exchange draws loud laughter from the audience.

The clip has since been widely shared online by fans. The World Laughter Day special episode also brought Samay Raina and Ranveer Allahbadia together on screen. The episode comes after Samay revisited a past controversy involving Ranveer in his stand-up special, Still Alive, referencing the show India’s Got Latent, which he hosted.

Sunil-Samay dispute

For context, Sunil Pal was among those who had openly criticised Samay Raina and Ranveer Allahbadia over their controversial remarks and use of inappropriate language during the India’s Got Latent episode. In an interview with Zoom, he called for strict action against them, describing such content as harmful and labelling it a “blight on society.” He added that while they call themselves content creators, they lack depth and creativity, and should face consequences for promoting negativity.

Sunil had also taken aim at the makers of Kaun Banega Crorepati, hosted by Amitabh Bachchan, for featuring Samay on the show.

Responding to the criticism, Samay, who is currently making a comeback, said he does not dwell on such opinions and believes that people who speak negatively often have their own struggles. He maintained that he takes no offence, adding that the individual in question seems troubled and expressing hope that he finds peace.
