The Lord of the Rings: The Rings of Power renewed for Season 4 ahead of Season 3

Prime Video has renewed The Lord of the Rings: The Rings of Power for a fourth season ahead of the release of Season 3. The streaming platform also announced that the third season of the fantasy series will premiere on November 11, 2026.

The announcement was made during Amazon’s annual Upfront presentation. According to Amazon MGM Studios, the series has attracted more than 185 million viewers worldwide since its debut.

Peter Friedlander, Head of Global Television at Amazon MGM Studios, said the response to the show from audiences across the world played a major role in the early renewal. He added that the team would continue working with creators JD Payne and Patrick McKay, along with the cast and crew, on the upcoming season.

Set thousands of years before the events of JRR Tolkien’s The Hobbit and The Lord of the Rings, the series explores the Second Age of Middle-earth. The story follows the rise of kingdoms, the forging of powerful alliances and the return of Sauron.

Prime Video also shared new details about Season 3. The upcoming chapter will move several years ahead of the events of Season 2 and focus on the War of the Elves and Sauron. The season will explore Sauron’s attempt to forge the One Ring and strengthen his control over Middle-earth.

The show stars Morfydd Clark, Charlie Vickers, Robert Aramayo, Owain Arthur and Sophia Nomvete, among others.

Season 3 will continue to be led by showrunners and executive producers JD Payne and Patrick McKay. Lindsey Weber, Justin Doble, Kate Hazell and Charlotte Brändstrm are also attached as executive producers.
