Actor Nora Fatehi has clarified her earlier remarks on feminism, saying her comments were taken out of context after clips from a 2024 interview went viral. Speaking in a recent conversation with Lilly Singh, she said short excerpts circulating on social media did not reflect the full discussion.

Addressing the controversy around her statement—where she had said feminism had “f***ed up society”—Nora explained that her criticism was directed at “extremism”, not the broader idea of women’s rights. “Certain small cuts come out on reels and TikTok, and they get blown up and people miss the context,” she said, adding that she does not support radical viewpoints.

What did Nora Fatehi clarify about her feminism remarks?

Nora said her stance has consistently been about balance, emphasising that she supports women’s independence while also valuing shared responsibilities in relationships. She maintained that her earlier comments were part of a wider conversation that was reduced to brief, viral clips.

She reiterated that while she advocates for women pursuing careers and financial independence, she believes this can coexist with traditional structures of partnership and family.

How did her upbringing shape her views?

Reflecting on her childhood, Nora spoke about being raised by a single mother and the impact it had on her perspective. She said she values the presence of two parents in a household, regardless of the family structure, highlighting the importance of stability, attention and support.

She noted that growing up without a “nuclear family” influenced her views on relationships and emotional development, adding that such experiences can carry into adulthood.

What had sparked the backlash earlier?

The controversy traces back to Nora’s 2024 appearance on Ranveer Allahbadia’s podcast, where her remarks on feminism drew criticism online. Clips from the interview circulated widely, prompting debate around her views on gender roles and societal expectations.

On the professional front, Nora has continued to expand her work across music and film, including her international single What Do I Know? with Shenseea and a performance on The Tonight Show Starring Jimmy Fallon.
