Zubeen Garg death case: Violence breaks out as accused brought to jail in Assam

Violent protests broke out in Assam's Baksa district as five accused in the singer Zubin Garg death case were brought to jail by the police. The unrest was triggered after five accused in the case, including Garg's manager Siddhartha Sharma and event organiser Shyamkanu Mahanta, were transferred to the Baksa district jail under judicial custody. Angry fans mob pelted stones at the police convoy and jail premises, and set a police vehicle on fire, prompting security forces to use tear gas to control the situation. This outburst of violence occurred despite an appeal for peace from Garg's wife, Garima Saikia Garg, as the Assam CID continues its investigation into the singer's death in Singapore.

Video: Vijay takes oath as Tamil Nadu CM amid loud cheers and chants

TVK leader C Joseph Vijay on Sunday took oath as the Chief Minister of Tamil Nadu amid a sea of supporters, his friends and family, and several political leaders. Eight other TVK leaders were sworn in besides him, as ministers in the new government. Congress leader Rahul Gandhi also attended the ceremony.
