Court orders release of Congress leader Alka Lamba on condition of good conduct
The court also ordered Alka Lamba to furnish a bail bond of Rs 1 lakh.

Days after convicting Congress leader Alka Lamba in connection with a 2024 protest at New Delhi's Jantar Mantar over the demand for implementation of women’s reservation, a Delhi court has ordered her release on the condition of good conduct.
The court on Saturday directed that she be released on a good conduct bond for one year. It also ordered her to furnish a bail bond of Rs 1 lakh.
Lamba welcomed the decision and said that she would challenge the conviction. "I am glad that the court has said that I have always complied with the constitution and law in the 30 years of my political conduct," she said.
The case relates to a protest held on July 29, 2024, during which the prosecution alleged that Lamba and others continued to protest despite prohibitory orders being in force in the Jantar Mantar area.
She was also accused of pushing government officials, obstructing official work, disobeying lawful orders and causing obstruction on a public road. A case was registered against her under Sections 132, 221, 223(a) and 285 of the Bharatiya Nyaya Sanhita (BNS).
The court had earlier framed charges against Lamba for offences including assault or use of criminal force against public servants, obstruction of duty and violation of lawful orders.
The latest development comes after the court convicted Lamba on May 25. However, the Congress' Women’s Wing chief had appealed for release on the basis of good conduct.
