A high-voltage drama unfolded in Uttar Pradesh’s Gorakhpur on Sunday when an auto-rickshaw driver, identified as Guddu Maurya, climbed a mobile tower following a long-standing land dispute and alleged threats. The incident drew a massive crowd at the crossroads, prompting an immediate police response.

According to family members, Maurya, a resident of Yadavpur, has been embroiled in a decade-long legal battle over land with his relative, Ramesh. The situation escalated after Maurya was allegedly threatened with physical harm and false implication at the police station. Distressed by the threats and the alleged illegal occupation of his land, Maurya climbed the tower to protest the administration's inaction.

Following the incident, Sandeep Yadav, a senior police officer, said that the dispute involves five stakeholders, where four parties have accused Maurya of occupying their shared land for years.

Conversely, Maurya had recently approached the local administration seeking intervention against new construction on the site. Frustrated by the lack of resolution at the administrative level, he took the extreme step. After hours of negotiation, police officials successfully persuaded him to climb down safely, and a thorough investigation into the matter is now underway.
