Father, uncle arrested for raping minor, issuing death threats to silence her
According to police, the girl's uncle, Asif, allegedly sexually assaulted her on multiple occasions over four months, threatening to kill her if she spoke out. When she eventually disclosed the abuse to her father, Farman, he too allegedly raped her.
A 14-year-old girl has alleged that she was repeatedly raped by her uncle and later by her own father over several months in Muzaffarnagar, Uttar Pradesh. Both accused have been arrested, police said.
According to police, the girl's uncle, Asif, allegedly sexually assaulted her on multiple occasions over four months, threatening to kill her if she spoke out. When she eventually disclosed the abuse to her father, Farman, he too allegedly raped her.
The girl's mother had left the family years ago due to the father's behaviour, leaving the minor without a primary caregiver. After the assaults by both the uncle and the father, the girl reached out to her maternal aunt in Shamli, who accompanied her on April 30 to file a complaint with the police.
Police registered a case under Sections 65(1), 115(2) and 351(3) of the Bharatiya Nyaya Sanhita (BNS) and Sections 5 and 6 of the Protection of Children from Sexual Offences (POCSO) Act. Both the father and uncle were arrested shortly after the complaint was filed.
Additional Superintendent of Police Siddharth K Mishra confirmed the arrests and said the girl’s statement is being recorded, adding that further investigation is underway.
