At least 31 people died after collapsing during a rally addressed by Tamilaga Vettri Kazhagam (TVK) president and actor Vijay in Tamil Nadu’s Karur on Saturday. The incident occurred during a public meeting that was part of Vijay’s ongoing statewide tour. A large crowd had gathered at the venue. As the event progressed, several individuals, including party workers and children, reportedly fainted due to overcrowding. Many were rushed to Karur Medical College Hospital and nearby private hospitals for treatment. As the situation worsened, Vijay halted his speech and appealed for calm, asking supporters to make way for ambulances. Water bottles were distributed, and medical teams were deployed to assist those feeling unwell.
