The electricity department in Uttar Pradesh's Baghpat has installed coolers to keep the transformers cool as severe heatwave continues unabated across north India.
Several states have been grappling with scorching heat for the last couple of days, with Uttar Pradesh's Banda emerging as the hottest place in the country at 46.8 degrees Celsius on Sunday, according to the Indian Meteorological Department. The weather office, however, forecast gradual relief from the heat from May 29.
