Amarinder Singh's party to be called Punjab Lok Congress

Former Punjab Chief Minister Captain Amarinder Singh, who resigned from Congress on Tuesday, has revealed the name of his party. The party will be called Punjab Lok Congress.
Disclosing the party's name in Chandigarh on Tuesday, Captain Amarinder Singh said, "Since we had announced earlier that we would be forming our own party, our team of lawyers was working on the process and had applied to the Election Commission of India for the registration." The Election Commission has no objection to the proposed name, he said.
Amarinder Singh had quit as Punjab chief minister in September amid a bitter power tussle with state Congress chief Navjot Sidhu.

BJP IT cell head Amit Malviya described the elderly party leader as "one of the earliest grassroots figures associated with the nationalist movement in post-Independence India."
