The Archaeological Survey of India (ASI) is set to conduct a scientific survey of the Gyanvapi mosque premises on Monday at 7am, excluding the 'Wazukhana' area. This decision follows the Varanasi Court's permission, granted two days ago, in response to a petition seeking the survey. The ASI team arrived in Uttar Pradesh's Lucknow on Sunday and held discussions with the Varanasi Commissioner. The ASI has been tasked with submitting a report on its findings after completing the survey, with the deadline set for August 4, 2023. The next court hearing on the matter is also scheduled for the same date. The petition seeks a scientific survey, including carbon dating, to ascertain the age of a "Shivling" that is believed to have been discovered at the Gyanvapi mosque.
India Today speaks with experts about the techniques and procedures ASI will use to conduct the survey tomorrow.
