Gorakhpur tragedy: Children died due to lack of sanitation, says Uttar Pradesh CM Yogi Adityanath

Uttar Pradesh Chief Minister Yogi Adityanath said the cause of the deaths of over 60 children in Gorakhpur's Baba Raghav Das (BRD) Medical College is a lack of sanitation.

He said people don't clean their septic tanks, and that leads to the spread of diseases.

Uttar Pradesh Health Minister Sidharth Nath Singh earlier denied that the deaths were caused by a shortage of oxygen.

Opposition parties have come down heavily on the Yogi Adityanath-led BJP government in Uttar Pradesh, with one BSP leader even calling on him to resign on moral grounds.
