Bihar's promise war: RJD's 'job for every home' vs NDA's 'jumla' accusation

A political debate has erupted in Bihar over election promises. RJD leader Tejashwi Yadav has promised a government job for every household, a move his party defends by citing the five lakh jobs provided during his 17-month tenure. The NDA has questioned the financial viability of this promise, highlighting its own governance record on GSDP growth and central schemes. A new political force, the Jan Suraj party, has entered the fray by releasing its first list of 51 candidates. Its General Secretary, Pawan Varmaji, criticised the promises of both major alliances, stating, "what we are seeing now is a downpour of what I can only call Jumlas." He also termed the NDA's direct benefit transfer just before the model code of conduct as unethical and akin to bribery.
