Bijapur Naxal attack: Intelligence on Hidma a trap for security forces?

As many as 22 jawans were killed and 31 sustained injuries in the encounter with Naxals in Chhattisgarh on Saturday. Security forces have launched an operation along the Sukma-Bijapur border, where an intense face-off resulted in the deaths of 22 jawans.

Meanwhile, Union Home Minister Amit Shah, who cut short his electioneering in Assam and returned to Delhi following the incident on Sunday, held a high-level meeting to review the security situation in Chhattisgarh.

Specific intelligence on the presence of prized Maoist leader Hidma now appears to have been a trap in the jungles of Chhattisgarh. Naxals ambushed security forces on the border of Sukma and Bijapur on Saturday.
