BJP confirms Yogi Adityanath as party's chief ministerial face in UP polls

Yogi Adityanath will remain BJP's chief ministerial face in the upcoming Uttar Pradesh polls, the party's national general secretary Arun Singh, who is also in-charge of the BJP's Rajasthan and Karnataka units, said on Tuesday.

Speaking to India Today in Jaipur on Tuesday, Arun Singh said, "There is no question of replacing Yogi Adityanath. He is and will remain our chief ministerial face in UP."

The BJP leader's statement aims to put to rest speculation about rumblings within the BJP's Uttar Pradesh unit.

In a letter to UP BJP chief Swatantra Dev Singh on Monday, the party's newly appointed UP vice president AK Sharma also said that the BJP will go into the Uttar Pradesh Assembly polls with Yogi Adityanath as its face.

"In the 2022 UP polls to be held under your and chief minister Yogi Adityanath's stewardship, the BJP would win even more seats than before," said Sharma. AK Sharma is a retired IAS officer considered to be a close confidante of Prime Minister Narendra Modi.
