A major accident was narrowly averted in Manali after a car skidded on ice and plunged into a field, an incident captured on a CCTV camera in Nasogi village and now widely shared on social media.
The video shows a car parked outside a hotel suddenly drifting forward after slipping into neutral while the driver was cleaning it from outside. As the vehicle began sliding on the ice-clad surface, the driver tried to stop it but also lost his footing due to the slippery conditions. Both the car and the driver slid downhill toward nearby fields.
The driver managed to move to safety, but the car fell into a ditch and was badly damaged. The driver escaped without serious injury.
Following the incident, local residents stressed the importance of caution during snowfall. They urged drivers to apply the handbrake, keep the vehicle in gear, and place wheel stoppers to prevent similar accidents in icy conditions.
