Hathras case: CBI takes over investigation

Following the UP government's recommendation, the CBI has been directed by the central government to take over the probe into the alleged gangrape and subsequent death of a 19-year-old Dalit girl from Boolgarhi village in Hathras.

On Saturday, the Centre's Department of Personnel and Training issued a notification allowing CBI to take over the investigation into the Hathras case. A team of the CBI's Ghaziabad branch under the Lucknow zone will probe the case in the days to come. The CBI is yet to file an FIR in this regard.
