Bengal post-poll violence: DGP confirms two deaths, urges people to maintain calm
The Director General of Police in West Bengal has confirmed two deaths related to post-election violence since the election results were announced.
Delhi Metro resumed operations in the national capital at 7 am on Monday after being shut for public use for over 5 months owing to Covid-19 restrictions. The guidelines issued by MHA clearly specified that metro services will be resumed in a graded manner. Delhi Metro has resumed running trains on the Yellow Line in the first phase of reopening and ran the first train from Huda City Centre in Gurgaon. The Yellow Line connects Samaypur Badli in Delhi to Huda City Centre in Gurgaon.
Delhi Metro Rail Corporation (DMRC) said the reopening of train services would be done in three stages from September 7-12. Atul Katiyar, Joint Commissioner of Police (Traffic), Delhi, said, "We have deployed police force at every metro station for crowd management and to ensure that people wear face masks and follow norms of social distancing."
Under stage one, Yellow Line or Line 2 and Rapid Metro have been made operational with restricted service hours. Trains will operate in batches of four-hour each from 7-11 am in the morning and 4-8 pm in the evening in the first stage. Delhi Metro services was closed since March 22 due to the pandemic. The DMRC has appealed to people to use the rapid transport only if urgently needed.
