Kerala: Death toll reaches to 27 after heavy rain triggers landslides, flooding

The toll in Kerala floods mounted to 27 on Tuesday as the state has been witnessing incessant rainfall since Friday. The NDRF and defence forces were pressed into rescue and relief operations.

Meanwhile, Prime Minister Narendra Modi spoke to Kerala Chief Minister Pinarayi Vijayan about the situation in the state.

A red alert has been issued for 11 dams across Kerala as water levels have breached the danger mark in several areas.

The high ranges of central and southern Kerala are experiencing almost similar to that of the situation the state faced during the time of devastating floods of 2018 and 2019. In a horrific video, a house came crashing down in Kerala's Kottayam.
