Militants attack Srinagar Hospital, cop killed, terrorist escapes custody

Srinagar's Shri Maharaja Hari Singh Hospital was attacked by an unidentified number of gunmen - suspected to be terrorists - today.
One policeman, part of a security detail that was escorting a detainee to the hospital, died in the firing.
The detainee managed to escape and the attacker(s) managed to flee as well.
The target of the attack, initial reports suggest, was a police party that was accompanying the detainee to the hospital.
The detainee has been identified as Abu Hanzula a.k.a. Naveed Jatt who was apprehended by security forces in Kulgam.
Hanzula was being escorted by a police team to the SMHS Hospital for a medical checkup when the policemen came under attack.
Two policemen were injured in the firing; one succumbed to his wounds while the other was admitted for treatment.

TVK leader C Joseph Vijay on Sunday took oath as the Chief Minister of Tamil Nadu amid a sea of supporters, his friends and family, and several political leaders. Eight other TVK leaders were sworn in besides him, as ministers in the new government. Congress leader Rahul Gandhi also attended the ceremony. The TVK managed to secure the Governor's nod to form the government after the Congress, the CPI, the CPI(M), the VCK, and IUML extended their support to the Vijay-led party for a colaition government.
