The first of the eight-phased election to District Development Council (DDC) and by-polls to panchs and sarpanchs in Jammu and Kashmir began on Saturday. The J&K DDC elections voting began at 7 am at various polling booths. Multilayered security arrangements have been made for the DDC elections.
State Election Commissioner KK Sharma said 2,146 polling stations have been set up for the smooth conduct of elections of the first phase of DDC elections.
