NITI Aayog pitches for 'Champion States', CEO Amitabh Kant says need to name and shame them

The NITI Aayog is pitching for 'Champion States' - a move that has been proposed to rank each state based on health, education and water index. NITI Aayog CEO Amitabh Kant said that the ranking will be revised on a daily basis.

"There is a need to create a lot of competition among states. We have introduced health, education and water index and on the basis of the outcome, we will rank the states," said Kant.

"Once you start ranking states, naming and shaming them and putting things on public domain, India will become a much better governed place. Doing a monitoring on day-to-day basis holds the key," the CEO added.
