Third non-bailable warrant against ex-Mumbai top cop Param Bir Singh in extortion case

The 8th metropolitan magistrate court has issued a non-bailable warrant (NBW) against former Mumbai police commissioner Param Bir Singh in connection with an extortion case filed at Marine Drive police station in Mumbai. This is the third NBW issued against him.

The issuance of NBW will take authorities a step closer to declaring Param Bir Singh as an absconder.

Earlier, two NBWs were issued by courts in Thane and Mumbai in connection with two other extortion cases registered against him.

If the former Mumbai top cop is declared an absconder, his properties can be attached and a Red Corner Notice (RCN) can be issued by the Central Bureau of Investigation (CBI).
