SC grants protection from arrest to Param Bir Singh in extortion case, asks him to join probe

The Supreme Court has granted former Mumbai top cop Param Bir Singh protection from arrest in an alleged extortion case. While granting the same, the court directed Param Bir Singh to join the investigation. Singh, who had accused the then Maharashtra home minister Anil Deshmukh of corruption, has alleged frame up in criminal cases. Besides seeking protection from coercive steps, he has sought CBI probe into the entire issue involving him. “Issue notice. Returnable on December 6.
