Temple Stampede Tragedy In Andhra: 10 Dead In Stampede, Negligence Probe Begins

This special report focuses on the tragic stampede at the privately-run Venkateswara Swamy Temple in Kasibugga, Srikakulam district, Andhra Pradesh, which claimed ten lives. A TDP spokesperson stated, 'we have to first check whether the permission was taken or not. If not, then who needs to be responsible for this is all that we have to understand.' The incident occurred during Ekadashi celebrations, where a crowd far exceeding the venue's capacity gathered, leading to the deadly crush. Reports indicate the temple lacked official permissions for the large event and was not registered under the Endowments Department. In response, the Andhra Pradesh government has initiated relief efforts and promised a thorough investigation. Prime Minister Narendra Modi has announced an ex-gratia payment of ₹2 lakh for the kin of the deceased and ₹50,000 for those injured from the Prime Minister's National Relief Fund.
