Unnao rape survivor accident: SC grants 2 weeks additional time to CBI

The Supreme Court on Monday asked the Central Bureau of Investigation (CBI) to complete its investigation into the road accident of Unnao gangrape victim within two weeks. The apex court rejected the CBI’s demand for providing the probe agency four weeks for the investigation into the accident. The Supreme Court also ordered to pay a compensation of Rs 5 lakh to the lawyer of the Unnao rape victim who was also injured in the accident which took place earlier in July. The next hearing on the case has been scheduled for September 6. The CBI is probing if there was any conspiracy behind the accident of the rape survivor. She is still in a critical condition at a Lucknow hospital.
