As Prime Minister Narendra Modi embarked on a landmark state visit to the United States, China's state-owned media slammed Washington for "pushing India and ramping up its efforts to harass China's economic progress". In the opinion column of The Global Times, China's top diplomat Wang Yi talked about the multilateral ties between the three countries, saying that Washington wants to use New Delhi as a "bulwark" against Beijing.
He also said that India's trade with the US cannot replace its trade with China.
