Watch: Rahul Gandhi steps out of yatra wagon to greet 'Modi supporters' in Assam

Congress leader Rahul Gandhi, during his party's Bharat Jodo Nyay Yatra's Assam leg, was seen jumping out of his vehicle to greet BJP and 'Modi' supporters. In the visuals, a thick crowd, chanting 'Modi-Modi' and with saffron BJP flags, were seen encircling his vehicle. Just then, the Congress MP is seen blowing flying kisses at them and asking his driver, "Why don't you stop here".

Following this, he stepped down to greet his rivals' supporters.

The Rahul Gandhi-led yatra is on its fourth day in the state, travelling from Biswanth district through Sonitpur to Nagaon. The visuals surfaced after Congress claimed the party's Bharat Jodo Nyay Yatra was "manhandled" by BJP workers in Assam's Sonitpur district on Sunday.

The Assam leg of the march began on January 18 and will continue till January 25. It will travel 833 km in 17 districts of the state.

Video: PM Modi hugs, touches feet of 98-year-old BJP veteran in Bengal

Prime Minister Narendra Modi on Saturday hugged and honoured 98-year-old Makhanlal Sarkar, one of the earliest and senior most members of the BJP. The scene unfolded on the stage ahead of Suvendu Adhikari's swearing-in as West Bengal's Chief Minister in Kolkata. PM Modi also touched Sarkar's feet and presented a shawl to him as a mark of respect. In 1952, Sarkar was arrested in Kashmir while he was accompanying Dr Syama Prasad Mookerjee as the latter was marching to hoist the tricolour there. BJP IT cell head Amit Malviya described the elderly party leader as "one of the earliest grassroots figures associated with the nationalist movement in post-Independence India."
