PM Modi to inaugurate Delhi–Dehradun corridor on Apr 14; Travel cut to 2.5 hours
From a six-hour road journey to a 2.5-hour swift drive, the Delhi–Dehradun Economic Corridor marks a major leap in India's infrastructure story. Blending speed with sustainability, the project also prioritises ecology with a 12 km wildlife elevated stretch.

Prime Minister Narendra Modi will visit Uttarakhand and Uttar Pradesh on April 14, 2026, to inaugurate and review the Delhi–Dehradun Economic Corridor, a major infrastructure project aimed at transforming regional connectivity.
The Prime Minister will inaugurate the Delhi–Dehradun Economic Corridor at a public event in Dehradun at around 12:30 PM and will also address the gathering.
DELHI TO DEHRADUN IN JUST 2.5 HOURS
The 213 km, six-lane access-controlled corridor has been developed at a cost of over 12,000 crore. Once operational, it will reduce travel time between Delhi and Dehradun from over 6 hours to nearly 2.5 hours.
WILDLIFE-FRIENDLY INFRASTRUCTURE DESIGN
The project has been designed with ecological sensitivity in mind to reduce man-animal conflict. It includes a 12 km long wildlife elevated corridor one of the longest in Asia along with animal passes, elephant underpasses, and a tunnel near the Daat Kali temple.
Earlier in the day, the Prime Minister will visit Saharanpur in Uttar Pradesh to review the wildlife corridor section of the project, particularly the elevated stretch designed for safe animal movement.
The Prime Minister will also perform darshan and pooja at the Jai Maa Daat Kali Temple near Dehradun before the inauguration event.
PROJECT FEATURES AND CONNECTIVITY BOOST
The corridor includes 10 interchanges, three railway over bridges, four major bridges, and 12 wayside amenities. It is also equipped with an Advanced Traffic Management System (ATMS) for improved safety and efficiency.
The corridor is expected to boost tourism, trade, and regional economic growth while improving connectivity between Delhi, Uttar Pradesh, and Uttarakhand.
