Brinda Adige, Director, Global Concerns India said that it is often a difficult process to lodge an FIR with the police. There is neither any victim or witness protection in criminal cases. She added that the police force is misogynist.

Shankar Bidari, the former Deputy General and Inspector General of Karnataka, said that frequent transfers have affected police morale. "Police have not been given a free hand. They are demoralised," he said.

Bidari further said that Benguluru requires proper policing. The city has seen six police commissioners in five years. He added that the state capital's criminal justice system has collapsed.

IGP Home Guard D Roopa said that police officials often want to be in their comfort zone and cushy job. "It is we who have created this thing of this posting being good and this being bad," she said.

Brinda Adige asked whether our government was really interested in safeguarding our children, women and the marginalised. "Is there a feeling of safety to look forward to?" she asked.
