Last fortnight as Zimbabwe's Prime Minister Robert Gabriel Mugabe held talks with Mrs Gandhi, a former Indian ambassador who lives in a South Delhi suburb, viewed the meeting with quiet satisfaction. Nirmal Jeet Singh, 61, had every reason to feel that way. His links with Zimbabwe, 28 years old, are still strong, and he has, in fact, done much to promote India's image in that country. An indication of the esteem in which he is held could be had from the fact that Mugabe, in spite of his tight schedule in New Delhi, made it a point to meet Singh.
