The Cricket World Cup telecast row was reportedly resolved at the intervention of the PMO, which told DD not to drag the issue further DD did not want to give up its suit against WorldTel, which had terminated its agreement with DD and signed up with Star TV. But at the same time, DD did not want to deprive its viewers of the matches. The interim settlement now reached is a face-saver for Mandi House. Though DD will now share the telecast with Star, all the contentious issues placed before the Delhi High Court will now be decided by an arbitrator - Union Power Minister N.K.P. Salve. If Salve rules in DD's favour, Mandi House will be entitled to compensation. For the viewer, though, the delay caused by the controversy may mean imperfect coverage. Says Mark Mascarenhas. WorldTel president: "The coverage is bound to get affected, but I can't say how seriously."
